Front Door

I am letting Spring in the front door of my house. I am letting Spring in the front door of my life. Having been low and signed off work through depression and anxiety now for two whole months, I am beginning to feel better. I no longer wonder what it would be like to not exist. I exist. I don’t worry about the people I would leave behind (to be honest, I didn’t at the worst of times) or picture the world without me in it. I exist in the world. I exist in the now.

As I breathe the Spring air in deeply ( it smells of green and blue ), and feel the sunshine on my skin, I consider the guilt associated with “feeling better” or having good days. It is, it has been almost as if these feelings are not allowed; if you are anxious and depressed and are not at work you should not be allowed to smile. Well today I have decided to stop letting happiness sneak in the back door, whilst making sure that no-one is looking. I’m putting the WELCOME mat out and the kettle on..

a lot of us (including me) should to repeat this to ourselves every day :D

:) gorgeous illustrations for Tess of the D’Urbervilles. It’s one of my favourite books…but now i’m wishing i had not found this lady, her work is not so far removed from my own. And i’ve just started a project to re-design a cover for the book. Darn.
